From Challenges to a New Direction
Some professional journeys begin with a clear career plan. Others take shape through personal experiences, family responsibilities and unexpected challenges. The journey of this educator and entrepreneur is closely connected with her experiences as a mother, educator, special educator and school leader.
At the age of sixteen, she faced a major change in family life when her mother suffered a stroke. Responsibility came early, and those years taught her about patience, family responsibilities and resilience. Later, marriage and motherhood brought another important chapter. After facing difficulties in conceiving, she became a mother to a son and daughter.
Motherhood also increased her interest in understanding children, their behaviour, communication and development.
Education Became a Second Beginning
After losing her mother, her father encouraged her to return to education. She began rebuilding her academic path with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from IGNOU and later completed Montessori teacher training from Amity International School, Pushp Vihar.
Her daughter’s early difficulties with writing and social interaction added another personal connection to her growing interest in child development.
For her, education was no longer simply about earning qualifications. It became a way to understand children better and learn how to support them in practical ways.
Returning to Work After a Long Gap
Returning to professional life after a long academic and personal gap was challenging. In 2010, she accepted her first teaching position with a modest salary. Having graduated in 1998, she had spent years away from formal employment.
The professional environment felt unfamiliar, and even conversational English was a challenge at the beginning. Instead of allowing the gap to define her career, she focused on learning through experience.
This period became an important stage in her professional development. Step by step, she rebuilt her confidence, gained classroom experience and moved towards a more specialised area of education.
A Turning Point in Special Education
In 2013, an interaction with a parent became an important professional turning point. She noticed that a child was not responding even to a simple greeting and suspected a hearing-related concern. The child was later assessed and diagnosed with significant hearing impairment.
The experience strengthened her belief in careful observation. It also reinforced the importance of educators recognising when a child’s behaviour may point towards a need for specialised support.
She subsequently pursued further studies in Learning Disabilities and gained practical experience as a Special Educator at Step-by-Step School, Panchsheel Park. She later completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education in Intellectual Disability from NIEPMD.
From Special Educator to School Leadership
Her growing experience eventually led to a leadership role at GD Goenka School, where she became Head of Special Education. Her responsibilities included working with students from Nursery through Class XI and supporting children with different learning needs.
Later, as a Zonal Manager at Mom’s Belief, she worked alongside occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists and special educators.
This multidisciplinary experience expanded her understanding of child development and coordinated educational support. It also helped her develop skills in communication, management and professional leadership.
Recognition and Public Engagement
Her professional journey has also included participation in public events and recognition ceremonies. These occasions reflect different stages of her involvement in education, community activities and professional networks.
One recognition described her as an “Incredible Woman”, while other award events brought her together with fellow professionals.
Building a Preschool During a Difficult Time
After the loss of her father, she decided to take an entrepreneurial step connected with her experience and understanding of children.
On 21 March 2021, after almost a year of waiting, she opened her own preschool. The timing brought an immediate challenge. The second wave of COVID-19 followed soon after, creating uncertainty for new businesses.
Rent, salaries, electricity and other expenses still had to be managed. Rather than abandoning the venture, she looked for another way to manage the financial pressure.
During the pandemic, she started a cloud kitchen as an additional source of income. Her recipes received attention and were featured on the “Zaika Ka Tadka” show.
The Edupreneur Today
Today, she is an entrepreneur and Director of Makoons Preschool in Vaishali. Her approach to early childhood education has been shaped by years of experience across mainstream education, special education, school leadership and therapy-oriented environments.
Her professional journey has given her a practical understanding of children’s different learning needs. At the preschool level, her focus extends beyond letters and numbers to confidence, communication, curiosity and individual development.
From family responsibilities at a young age to special education, school leadership and entrepreneurship, her story shows how professional direction can evolve through experience. Her work today brings together education, leadership and entrepreneurship in one continuing journey.
